What are some elements in your chart to consider when exercising according to your Human Design?

The chart always work best in a holistic way, yet the best elements to check when exercising for your Human Design are your energy type and your variables arrows (at the top of your body graph chart you can find them). You can look up your bodygraph chart here.

What do the arrows mean for you in terms of exercising?

Left Facing Arrow

When the bottom left arrow (otherwise called, the environment variable) faces the left, you are meant to have a stricter, more consistent, and structured routine when it comes to your body’s care.

You thrive with daily work-outs at the same time, varying only slightly. For example: a left facing arrow here would look like someone going to the gym 5x a week for 1 hour every morning. But it can also look like a schedule with alternating classes each day that repeats week after week. Find what routines and structures work for you if your arrow goes left.

Using a planner to schedule out your day may be very supportive for you, so you can focus your energy elsewhere.

Right Facing Arrow

When the bottom left arrow faces right, you are meant to have more flexibility and flow in your schedule.

A rigid exercise routine can feel unsupportive for your body. Instead, pick to work out when you have the energy. Check in with how your body is feeling. If you need to a skip a day, that is okay. If seasonally you switch the practices you hold, say weights for a while and then cardio for a while, that is more supportive for you.

Allowing yourself to change things up and be less consistent in your routines will give you the energy you’re seeking.

If you are a Generator or Manifesting Generator…

Movement ensures you can sleep better at night. When you get movement in, the energy of your sacral is used and expelled fully so you can get a goodnight’s sleep. Otherwise, no movement can cause too much stagnant energy to enter the mind, causing sleep troubles.

Certain exercises will give you more energy. Use your sacral to follow what types of exercise are lighting up your body. It is important that you choose the exercise that lights you up because it will create energy for you! Manifesting Generators may like a variety of exercises to mix things up and avoid feeling mundane.

Remember you are here to experience pleasure and fulfillment, if a routine begins to feel unsupportive for your body, try something new that makes you feel fresh and excited about going to take care of your body.

If you’re a Projector or Reflector…

It is key to exercise in moderation. We all know rest is crucial for Projectors and Reflectors, so when it comes to exercise, you may find slower exercises may be supportive (ex., swimming, walking, yoga, or gentle cycling).

Movement can release energy you’ve picked up. Projectors and Reflectors naturally pick up other people’s energy with their undefined centers (specifically the sacral-- Generators and Manifesting Generators). Movement is important to release some of it.

Reflectors and environmental authority Projectors might want to play with the environment the exercise takes place in, because you are so attuned to the energy in your environment and amongst the people you work out with. Go places you feel supported and safe to be yourself, to get the most productivity and pleasure in your workout.

If you’re a Manifestor…

Tap into what you feel day-by-day. Somedays, an intense workout with bursts of movement (ex., HITT) may be the move, while other days, you may need something more relaxing, like a walk.

Check your energy levels to see what type of movement makes the most sense for you day-by-day.

Honor the seasons, don’t be surprised if your routine changes and you go from playing pickleball as a form of exercise, to weightlifting. Listen to your mini-urges when it comes to how you want to take care of your body and don’t expect consistency, allow yourself to flow.

no matter your energy type…

Human Design is all about getting in contact with your body to support it and feel in alignment with it. Trust yourself and your intuition when it comes to exercise. Try the guidelines above and play with observing how you feel when you follow a consistent routine vs. when you go more with the flow, or when you do certain exercises vs. others. Human Design is an experimentation, play with yourself and your body!
